Become a Green Queen This Christmas

03 Dec 2020

Oh Look, Emerald City is now closer and prettier than ever! ” ― Dorothy Gale (1939) The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

Thanks to Iago in Othello, green has long been associated with jealousy aka a “green eyed monster”. Not anymore! Even further back in pagan times, green was linked with nature and renewal and that is how we view it again now as we seek to make our peace with the natural world.

Today green stands for positivity, environmental responsibility and generally all that is good, including all those love ‘em or hate ‘em seasonal brassicas.

The Duchess of Cambridge appears to love wearing green and has shown us countless times how amazing and uplifting the colour can be whether it is on a coat or a vintage evening dress. There must be more than shades of green than grey and certainly at least one for all of us be it forest, pistachio, mint, bottle, pea, lime or fern.

As this all-new festive season gets under way it is the darker and metallic shades we are loving. Think Christmas trees and holly, green triangles and round balls of chocolate. Maybe this Christmas in particular it is time to give red the heave-ho and embrace all that is green. You could even take it one step further by flexing your green credentials and consider renting instead of buying (although you would have to buy your own chocolate as that really wouldn’t work as a rental.) See below all the #greenspiration you need to take you all the way to the Emerald City.
