On the Red Carpet at the 2020 Oscars
If we were eager to see definitive trends walking the red carpet at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, we would have been disappointed. Instead of just a few strong themes, we were treated to a fine and eclectic collection of stunning looks. Disappointed we certainly were not!
Here are some of our favourite standout styles.
Saoirse Ronan looked amazing in her Gucci gown. Lilac is one of our new favourite colours and we were impressed to learn that the black fabric used on the ruffle was repurposed from the black dress worn at the BAFTAs. How is that for speedy recycling not to mention speedy needlework?
Billie Eilish reminded us that at 18 sometimes more really is more as long as it’s Chanel. Not a total look for everyone but surely an element here and there for us all. Tweed suit ✔️ comfy shoes definitely ✔️ dangly hold your head up earrings ✔️ fingerless Chanel gloves ✔️ thank you Karl, multiple Chanel brooches! Yes please.
And at BagButler the detail we really loved… a bandeau tied in Billie Eilish’s hair adorned with yet another brooch. Billie we apologise but…you made us smile!
Greta Gerwig wowed in a khaki green Dior gown with a glamorous full skirt and a detail we couldn’t take our eyes off…an even more glamorous necklace strikingly similar in style to our very own vintage 1959 green tourmaline by Dior no less!
Now to our favourite – Kristin Cavallari. We adored your pale blue satin dress by a designer new to us, Valdrin Sahiti. Simple, elegant and fresh for spring; a colour we are looking forward to seeing more of and a style we at least will never tire of.
